Can I still use the original remote if I want?
Yes. If you try to use your original remote while the thermostat is active, the thermostat will override whatever on/off commands you send from your original remote. This is because the thermostat resends on and off codes to avoid going out of sync with your heater. The plus and minus buttons will still work perfectly fine.
If you set the thermostat to deactivated, then you can have full manual control of your heater with the original remote.
I got an email saying my package has shipped, but the tracking number still says waiting for the package to be dropped off. What's going on?
Packages aren't scanned right when they get dropped off at the post office, so there is frequently some delay with the tracking number updating after we mark your order as shipped. Additionally, USPS frequently fails to scan packages in the first stops of their journey (sometimes tracking numbers aren't even updated until delivery). Unfortunately this is completely out of our control, give it some time, and if your package isn't updating for more than a week or two, get in touch with us and we will figure out a solution.
Does the CD Thermostat Require Batteries?
No batteries are required.
The standard unit without a battery is powered continuously by the microUSB connection, and the battery unit comes with an installed lithium battery which charges from the microUSB connection. If the battery unit is left plugged in after the battery is fully charged it will run off the microUSB connection and the battery will stay fully charged until unplugged for mobile use.
Why is no MicroUSB cable included with my thermostat?
This is a product produced at an incredibly small scale (to the point where this project would not have been possible even 3 years sooner), as such our costs for parts, PCB printing, and assembly are much higher than typical consumer electronics. If we were to include a MicroUSB cable, it would need to be extremely cheap to not increase product price significantly. We do not want to include a cheap cable because it would likely break and create more unnecessary waste, and most people have a microUSB cable around the house anyways.
Why is no USB wall plug included with my thermostat?
Read the above answer, and additionally many people use our thermostat in 12v systems where a 120v wall plug would be useless and become garbage.
